COLOR IS ALL YOU NEED
THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO THAT CAN'T BE DONE
Especially when you have the help of a designer that takes inspiration from the things you love. This is what happened when Susie asked me to help her bedroom stop singing the blues and belt out a new tune. Read the “liner notes” of how the design came together here. (All together, now!)
NOTHING YOU CAN SING THAT CAN'T BE SUNG
This space was definitely not hitting the right note. Most noticeably, the room lacked color, depth and interest. It most certainly didn’t reflect the fun, colorful personalities of Susie and her husband.
NOTHING YOU CAN MAKE THAT CAN'T BE MADE
After painting the paneling a brighter color. We brought in custom made bedding, including a reversible comforter to add color and versatility. Custom drapery with a graphic print amplifies the op art influence and adds more color as well as softness. The curtains also add function by blocking out the small trickle of light that leaks in between the shades and the window. (The couple likes it completely dark when sleeping. Which is why we opted for black-out cellular shades instead of the woven woods I had initially put into the design).
NO ONE YOU CAN SAVE THAT CAN'T BE SAVED
Or in this instance, there’s nothing you can save, that can’t be saved. Susie didn’t want to go to the expense to replace her log bed, so we brought in a faux fur throw to mimic an upholstered headboard, turning up the volume on texture and comfort.
NOTHING YOU CAN DO BUT YOU CAN LEARN HOW TO BE YOU IN TIME
From the artwork to the fun yellow and white nightstands;
from the colorful rug and the funky chair:
to the reclaimed wood cabinet that holds the Susie’s mom’s handmade quilts; each element in this space is instrumental in creating a space that sings to the couple’s tastes and personalities.
